How can we find the total row count for all db tables in psql version 7.4.3 ??SELECT schemaname,relname,n_live_tup FROM pg_stat_user_tables ORDER BY n_live_tup DESC.

The documentation of 7.4 does not mention explicitely what are the columns of this view, but connecting to a 7.4 server and issuing "¥d pg_stat_user_tables" would help and you might be able to get an equivalent of what you are trying to do. -- Michael
