We are trying to be as close as with Red Hat/Fedora RPMs. But I suggest you to take a full backup befora upgrading. Remember that you can upgrade only from 8.0.X. I.e, files will be at the same places if I upgrade from FC packages? As far as I have seen, FC only has 7.4 and you need to do a dump and restore to go from 7.4 to 8.0.
