Thread: Hostname change - pgsql won't start
I had to reboot my RH9 server, now Postmaster won't start:
I had to change my hostname recently, I am guessing that had something to do with it. I have tried modifying to the pg_hba.conf file to allow any host to connect, but that doesn't seem to help.
Are there any other places where the hostname or IP address is specified and would restrict access?
Thanks.
No, it is not started. My supposition is that it won't start due to the hostname change. That is the only thing which has changed, leading me to believe that it is the root cause of pgsql not starting. Reasonable? -----Original Message----- From: Nigel J. Never mind, I found a postmaster.pid file. I deleted it and pgsql started fine. Sorry to bug... -----Original Message----- From: Nigel J. Have you checked the log file? Usually in /var/log/pgsql any time I've had problems, the log file has told me exactly what I was doing wrong. -- Bill Moran Potential Technologies http://www.potentialtech.com
