pb on installation

hi
i try to install postregresql 7.2 on windows nt
i have got a problem with my installation

  when i tape this command :
$ postmaster -D /usr/share/postgresql/data &
i have got this error why?

  FATAL 1 : File /usr/share/postgresql/data/PG_VERSION is missing. This is
  not a valid directory

  i forward this manual to install cygwin

Have you run initdb to create the database structure in
/usr/share/postgresql/data?  (Read all the INSTALL notes.)

When you ran the initdb command did you give it the EXACT same path to run
against (i.e. /usr/share/postgresql/data)???
