Thread: aaaaaargggggghhhhhh!!!!!!
Now that I gotten that out of my system... My ongoing saga called "get the data out of the sytem tables" is still pretty much nowhere. 1. I am very (too) cautious about manipulating the /data directory of the crashed database which has slowed work a lot... 2. The various tools are not easy to use. OK so I am a database professional but not a C programmer. 3. A simple data extraction tool would be a big help. I don't need structure or any fancy gadgets. The database in this case contains no logic (everything is in the JSP). The two very small functions that I do have for mapping id fields to country names are safe and sound in nedit text files as is the table structure. This is quite scary business because the clients are long time friends and have put a lot of hard work into the database. It woke up some people at work to the need of reparing the backup server which had been out of service for 10 months... But as usual the damage is done and the money that they are promising now for new hardware is enough for sure, but too late... Moving on to phase 19...
