problems in compiling

Hello sir,
 
  Whenever I compile the following sample code
 

# include <stdio.h>
# include <pgsql/libpq-fe.h>
 
void
exit_nicely(PGconn *conn)
{
    PQfinish(conn);
    exit(1);
}
 
main()
{
    char       *pghost,
               *pgport,
               *pgoptions,
               *pgtty;
    char       *dbName;
    int         nFields;
    int         i,
                j;
 
    /* FILE *debug; */
.........
 
}
 
 
i get a compilation error which is of the following

what is the reason . i use the folowing command line cc file.c

It's trying to resolve external references (link) in your executable but
you haven't told it to link against the Postgres libraries.  Try

cc file.c -lpq
