Thread: initdb stalled?
Installed postgres using: ./configure --prefix=/usr/local --enable-multibyte --enable-locale -- enable-recode Ran initdb and a postgres process is peggs the CPU for several minutes until I killed it. It's a 600Mhz Thinkpad running: CYGWIN_NT-5.0 JESTER 1.3.9(0.51/3/2) 2002-01-21 12:48 i686 unknown Someone had to get initdb to work in order for this to be a supported platform right? -- Rod Taylor Your eyes are weary from staring at the CRT. You feel sleepy. Notice how restful it is to watch the cursor blink. Close your eyes. The opinions stated above are yours. You cannot imagine why you ever felt otherwise.

Umm...I guess so. :,) Please read the README (specifically cygipc): http://www.tishler.net/jason/software/postgresql/postgresql-7.1.3.README.txt Jason
I think I understand now (will try after applying that perl patch). Someone should include those notes in the 'Installing under Windows' section of the admin handbook. -- Rod Taylor This message represents the official view of the voices in my head ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jason Tishler" <jason@tishler.net> To: "Rod Taylor" <rbt@zort.ca> Cc: <pgsql-cygwin@postgresql.org> Sent: Sunday, February 10, 2002 10:05 PM Subject: Re: [CYGWIN] initdb stalled? > Rod, > > On Sun, Feb 10, 2002 at 08:29:23PM -0500, Rod Taylor wrote: > > Ran initdb and a postgres process is peggs the CPU for several minutes > > until I killed it.
