The following bug has been logged online:

Bug reference: 6033
Logged by: Eric Kolotyluk
Email address: eric.kolotyluk@gmail.com
PostgreSQL version: 9.0.4-1 x86
Operating system: Windows XP
Description: Nonstandard Install Directory Fails
Details:

If I try to run the installer on Windows XP with the install directory other
than the standard place (c:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\9.0), the installation
has errors in it.

If I use the default parameters the installation is fine.

Using the same installer on Windows 7 x86, it installs correctly if I
install it in some other directory.

That's rather odd. To be of any help, though, it'd be necessary to know
more than "has errors in it".

Can you be specific about what is wrong? Please provide installer logs,
the exact text of any error message(s), etc. It would also help to know
what language your version of Windows XP is in and what (if any) virus
scanner is present.
