Description:        psql dumps core on CTRL+ALT+\

Details:

Entering CTRL+ALT+\ (backslash) causes psql to dump core:

magog# psql -U pgsql template1
Password:
Welcome to psql 7.4.1, the PostgreSQL interactive terminal.

Type:  \copyright for distribution terms
       \h for help with SQL commands
       \? for help on internal slash commands
       \g or terminate with semicolon to execute query
       \q to quit

template1=# Quit (core dumped)

Compiled with gcc version 3.3.3 [FreeBSD] 20031106 using "-O -ftracer
-fprefetch-loop-arrays -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe".

That is the very purpose of that key combination.  The shell sends a
SIGQUIT signal to the program, causing it to quit and dump core.  You
may find that quite a lot of programs dump core that way.  If you don't
like that behavior, reconfigure your shell.
