Core dumps in HP's compiler should be filed with HP as a compiler bug. They are surely not our problem. My own experience on HPUX 10.20 is that HP's cc tends to dump core when given both +O2 and -g. Evidently it's still not fixed as of 11.0. I'd suggest backing off the optimization level in CFLAGS, or using gcc. regards, tom lane
