Thread: Article about upcoming 8.3 release: Full of wrong info.
Hi, This article is pretty annoying: http://www.informationweek.com/news/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=201803375&subSection=News I was expecting Bruce not to mention about: * PL/SQL debugger (sir, we don't *have* PL/SQL in *our* database!) * Clustering software from Skype (it is just a pgfoundry project, not a core addition) * SEPostgreSQL - It is a GSoC project. It is not even in pgfoundry. I disliked these a lot. The bad news is that I didn't mention any of these to the author, and certainly not in any detail, so we have to find out who did and have them contact the author, or the author found out himself somehow. The good news is that the author really likes our project so I am hoping we can inform him in a sensitive way. He is trying to help us with articles like this touting our release and stuff. Josh Berkus is quoted in the article. Josh, did you mention some of these items to the author? -- Bruce Momjian <bruce@momjian.us> http://momjian.us EnterpriseDB http://www.enterprisedb.com + If your life is a hard drive, Christ can be your backup. +

Josh is gone for five days. Someone else is going to have to run with this fix. Joshua D. The really bad news is that the article does not mention any of the improvements we did for 8.3, so it sounds like it is a rather pointless release. -- Alvaro Herrera Valdivia, Chile ICBM: S 39º 49' 18.1", W 73º 13' 56.4" "La soledad es compañía"

I have spoken with Charlie Babcock directly and helped him fix the errors. He is running them by his editor and is hoping to have them in place shortly. Joshua D.
