A few ideas....

Hi all,

I've just subscribed and check some of the recent posts so please be gentle if I show a complete lack of understanding.

I'd like to understand the relationships between pgsql.com and the postgresql main project, and whether or not it's the
samekind of relationship as MySQL Inc. have with the MySQL database project.

I'd also like to suggest that we allow the main site to make use of all the browsers screen width. At the moment it
limitsthe width of information that can be displayed, and as a result a lot of it ends up off the first page. To give
youguys an idea of what I'm talking about I've mocked up a demo at http://p15112334.pureserver.info/postgresql/ I know
it'smissing the websites and languages sections, but the idea of the mock up is to show how it handles browser windows.

I also think that there should be a standardised design to the web pages, that way it's easy to tell when your on a
PostgreSQL"official" page.

Comments welcome....

Al.

It is impossible to "skin" the current postgresql.org, due to horrible
architecture. A new version of postgresql.org is under development. The
"engine" itself is ready, next steps would be doing a completely new
design and improving content. I am not sure whether anyone is currently
working on it, though.

There is also a well-hidden mailing list for website development, you
can try finding it and subscribing.

my$ql inc owns and controls all of the code that belongs to the my$ql
project. they decide who gets to use code and under what circumstances,
and can change those terms as needed to suit their business needs.

pgsql.com however does not own any of the code of the postgresql
project. They do have several employees that are long standing members
of the project community, and through their previous actions have
developed close ties with the community, however they do not have
control over the project any more than the other companies who are
actively involved.
