As I mentioned, I had 5 magazine interviews in Japan.  They didn't ask
the "What is PostgreSQL" questions, but more about where PostgreSQL was
heading.

I hear the Japanese are fairly fluent with Postgres. How do they compare
with North American awareness?

Japan is 2 years ahead of the rest of the world in PostgreSQL usage, and
the gap has remaned for the past several years.  Looking at Japan, I can
then tell what will happen other places in two years.

I know that mysql never really took hold there, why?

I think it was our internationalization that Tatsuo added.
