Thread: Press Release status?
Subject says it all ... :)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 > Press Release status? As far as I can tell, it is completely done and ready to go. I looked it over and found no problems, and every issue people brought up seems to have been resolved and incorporated. Hopefully, the translators are already hard at work on it. :) Greg Sabino Mullane greg@turnstep.com PGP Key: 0x14964AC8 200211270942 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Comment: http://www.turnstep.com/pgp.html iD8DBQE95No/vJuQZxSWSsgRAmP0AKC6w0TlW1UI02QayY5CHxWVrs03bgCfY4Gd MF4vx7CucHCtZlxx8pWucJE= =o77U -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
Marc, > Subject says it all ... :) I'm not sure. I'm accessing via dial-up right now; my father-in-law managed to have an industrial accident on Thanksgiving, so this is my first chance to check. FWIW, can we *NEVER* do a release on a major holiday in a country with 1/3 of our volunteers, again? I accessing e-mail from my in-laws' computer. As far as I know, the following steps still need to be taken: 1) Notifying all translators and collecting translated versions. 2) Assembling an e-mailing list for press 3) Createing a cleaned-up version of the changes page for press. 4) Checking/fixing the links on the Advocacy site. 5) Sending out the release to the e-mail list from 2) I will do the first half of 1), but I need someone else to collect the responses, as I am on webmail at the moment. I will attempt to do 3 and send the version to Robert; however, working on this computer is downright painful (limited to 20wpm) so no promises. Sorry to "duck out" on this, but I underestimated the difficulty of working in rural Oregon. -Josh Berkus
Marc, I propose that we consider calling the 7.3 press release a "learning experience" and allowing 7.3 to go up without a release. We can then mail the release a few days later, perhaps Friday. Justin is unavailable, as is Robert; I am constrained by slow dial-up and limited hours, and the translators were just notified to start work. Frankly, I can't imagine how we could get this act together sooner than 2 days after I get back to my office (meaning Thursday). BTW, I put you down on as one of the two people to whom the translators should mail their translated versions. Sorry for doing that arbitrarily; but I'm on webmail here and yours was the only address I have memorized, and I didn't want copies going *only* to me. -Josh Berkus

I haven't seen any yet, but will keep an eye out for them ...
Marc, Folks, Please disregard my panicked e-mails. Apparently I missed a few days of postgresql mail, and was completely unaware that the press release had gone out. Since I did not receive any e-mail from this list for the last 2 days, what did I miss? Is everything taken care of? What's going on? -Badly Confused Josh
