Release timetable

Greetings all.

I wonder if anyone can tell me, based on past experience, how long it
usually takes for a release version of Postgres to become available
after the first release candidate comes out. I need to replace the
hardware for my production server (running 8.0.8), and am trying to
decide whether to wait for 8.2 to become available. Some of the new
features are rather enticing.

I'm not asking for a promised date, I just wonder whether Postgres beta
and release candidate cycles are more typically measured in weeks or in
months.
