Is there any equivalent command for '\d tablename'.
Inorder to get the table structure is there any SQL query in postgres?

Oliver, How should I use this? I tried this way but of no use. psql -E -U siva -d template1 -c \d test (test is a table in template1) Am I missing anything here? You should also take a look at http://pgfoundry.org/projects/newsysviews/; it makes getting this kind of info out of the database much easier.
