Backups and errors

Hello list,
just a quick question a colleague asked me (and I too am curious): suppose
during a pg_dump PostgreSQL finds an error in a table (disk error, file
corrupted etc). Where does it blame for the error? Standard output? Log
file? Anywhere else?

Thanks in advance,
    Stefano

Hi
I run pg_dump from crontab,
and set MAILTO=myemail

NOTICES issued from pg_dumped used to get mailed
to me.

i think contents of both stderr and stdout gets mailed
when you run from crontab.

do if somethings fishy you know it next morning!
