creating large objects with pl/pgsql

Hi,
Anybody know how to create large objects in pl/pgsql program.I found
example for libpq in the postgresql documentation. But I could not
find any example for pl/pgsql.
I tried to use lo_create in pl/pgsql function. It did not work.
