Authenticating some users and trusting others

Hi,

I want to avoid that someone could authenticate as root user on my
databases.
For this, I would like to apply "trust" access mode mixed with auth by
password for other users.
In this case, someone would have first to gain root privileges on my Linux
system to access PG as root.

Is it possible to mix two auth modes ?

Perhaps you are confused. There is nothing wrong with having a database
user called "root". This user does not automatically have special
privileges and is unrelated to any Unix root user.

Not from the same host.
