Thread: Feature request: associate .sql extensions with pgAdmin III
On Windows systems, it sure would be nice if files with .sql extensions automatically open in pgAdmin III when I double click on them.
It appears that pgAdmin may not register .sql extension at all, as even when I right-click and look at the Open with menu, I don't see pgAdmin III even listed.

Hi there, It works for me, on Windows 7 - pgAdmin registers itself against the .sql extension. Ray. -- Raymond O'Donnell :: Galway :: Ireland rod@iol.ie

You can set this yourself in Windows - in Windows Explorer select Tools > Folder Options > File Types. Select the .sql extension in the Registered files types view and then select the Change button. If pgAdmin III does not show up as an option, then select Browse and go to the C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\ [version] \bin folder and select pgAdmin3.exe. >It appears that pgAdmin may not register .sql extension at all, as even >when I right-click and look at the Open with menu, I don't see pgAdmin III >even listed. Sorry for the lack of detail.
I am using 1.14.1. It was bundled with Postgres 9.1.2. I am on Windows 7 x64.
For some reason, the pgAdmin III installer did not register .sql with pgAdmin at all. I checked this by going to Control Panel > Programs > Default Programs > Set Associations (these are the breadcrumbs at top; actual selections may be different), then click on .sql and click on the Change program button. pgAdmin III does not show up.
I just now downloaded pgAdmin III 1.14.1 from http://www.postgresql.org/ftp/pgadmin3/release/v1.14.1/win32/ and reinstalled it, and now I have the association.
Is it possible that something about being installed with Postgres is preventing the file association?
