RC2 announcement

From

I just updated the website to announce RC2.

I wonder if we should spread the news a bit wider, e.g. on postgresql.org.

Regards,
Andreas

We only get one announcement on the main website for the betas, and one
for release so lets not waste it on RC2 :-).

A post to -announce would seem sensible -- although, as we should be
aiming to make rc2 into release asap, perhaps we shouldn't risk boring
the wider audience with too many announcements, too close together.

Regards, Dave.

yeah and sorry to insist, can one of you confirm the bug I encounter in
Debian:
wxAssert when trying to connect to a non running Database.
(I permit to insist because it seems my mails are randomly reaching the
list/people).

Raphaël

Don't be sorry, be louder! Seriously though, I don't see this in Win32, but I don't have any Linux desktops to try at
themmoment so I can't test more appropriately I'm afraid. If I was at work it'd be Slackware anyway...

I did look at that when it arrived (the original copy of the message you resent), and with a bit of educated guesswork,
itlooks like you were unlucky in that the original message got queued on a server which was then rebooted. Being a
FreeBSDserver running a fair number of VMs, it was a little while before the right one came back up and the queue got
processed.

<louder mode>
That's exactly where I want to go: is it reproducible on other OSes...
So, it seems not to be a win32 problem but I'd like to verify it is not
Debian related or worst: a "Raphael related problem" (c) 1974-2004 ME ;)
Please give it a try on Slack and tell us.

mmmh really strange... I had my prefered shirt when I sent the mail. On
this shirt you can read "Lucky" ;)

Like I said though - I'm on leave at the moment, so don't have a Linux desktop anywhere nearby for at least a week...

Sorry :-(

My turn to say: "don't be sorry, be louder!" You should not be
abandonned by a Linux box for so long... It's unacceptable and if I were
you I'll ask my boss to pay me a laptop! :))

Finally no problem, we've just found the beginning of an answer with
Andreas ;)

Cheers,
Raphaël

He did - it's a very nice Dell Precision M60. It happens to be running XP at the moment though, and my Linux partition
waszapped for a recent project.
