I'd rather write:

SHOW TABLES;

then:

SELECT  table_name  FROM information_schema.tables WHERE table_type = 'BASE TABLE'   AND table_schema NOT IN
('pg_catalog','information_schema');
 

And, the latter, unless I'm doing it regularly, is alot harder to remember 
then the former ...
