Heya,
I have about 27 views, nothing special in them. Some of them I can attach without error to my MS Access 2000 database. The others I get the error "The size of a field is too long". Now, when I try to attach these same views to a test MS Access 97 database I have no problems. I can then open the 97 database in 2000 and upgrade it to 2000 format and I can still access the views normally. Problem is that the system I have developed uses a "re-attach" function that breaks whenever these views require re-attachment. I have also tried removing columns from a view that doesn't attach, one by one, and no matter which columns I remove it still generates the error.
Has anyone experienced anything like this?
Please find a file attached FYI that contains the def'n of a view that works and the def'n of a view that gives me the error. It also contains the table def'ns for the tables that are referenced in the views. I have also attached the log file generated by the odbc driver.
Here are my specs:
ODBC driver ver: 7.1.11
PostgreSQL ver: 7.2.0
Access 2000 (views don't attach)
Access 97 (views do attach)
Please ask for more information.
Regards,
Krishna.
