Are you doing single-row inserts like:

    insert into ... values (..);
    insert into ... values (..);
    insert into ... values (..);
    insert into ... values (..);

or are you doing multi-row inserts like this:

    insert into ... values (..), (..), (..), (..);

Typically the latter will perform much better (especially if autocommit is enabled)
