As good a place to put it as any, I guess. After a long sojourn
with MySQL I needed to go back to PostgreSQL. Installed v7.0 but
was waiting patiently for v7.1.

Then on the port.

Then I was ready to activate it. Alas, it was not to be. For
some reason I can't "initdb -W -D /home/db/...". Or rather,
I can get my cake but not in any eadible condition so to
speak. Which is no good.

I want to eat my cake!

I can't even create a database cluster, nay, system in its
default place. Well, not in any ...

The v7.0 release on the production box has no such troubles. I
can get and eat all the cake I want, as long as it's v7.0 cake.

Haven't yet tried to see v7.0 databases are v7.1 compatible.

Since I've unsubscribed the pgsql maillists some years ago, does
anyone here know if this is 'known'? Or if it's me in which case
the details of the errors of my ways would be very much appreciated!
