exec sql declare C cursor for SELECT MAX (score)
   FROM report
   WHERE uname = 'xxxxxxx'
   AND exam_id IN
       ( SELECT exam_id
         FROM exam
         WHERE name = 'yyyy'
       );

exec sql fetch in C into :score;
