yes, but this only describe the bytea type, not how to cast some text. Or I
missed something ;) ...

odem=> SELECT 'abc'::text::bytea;
ERROR: Cannot cast type text to bytea
odem=> SELECT '\000'::text::bytea;
ERROR: Cannot cast type text to bytea
