initdb fails on hpux - Mailing list pgsql-admin

Hi,

We are trying to install PostgreSql-7.4.2 on HPUX 11.23i. after installation
initdb fails with the following error message.

dome % ./bin/initdb -D /xxx/postgresql-7.4.2/data
./bin/initdb[127]: 1588 Killed
./bin/initdb[131]: 1589 Killed
./bin/initdb[136]: 1590 Killed
The program
    /xxx/postgresql-7.4.2/bin/postgres
needed by initdb does not belong to PostgreSQL version 7.4.2, or
there may be a configuration problem.

This was the error message issued by that program:
/usr/lib/hpux32/dld.so: Unable to find library 'libz.so'.

any help is greatly appreciated.
