I just instaled the version 7.0.3 on a FreeBSD.

i made :

./configure
gmake
gmake install
adduser postgres
su -postgres
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/initdb -D /usr/local/pgsql/data
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/postmaster -D /usr/local/pgsql/data

and the postmaster started with no problems,but:

when i tryied  :
/usr/local/pgsql/bin createdb test

I got an error:

/usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libpq.so.2" not found

What to do?
