Hello, I'm new to this mailing list, and I have a couple of questions:

Is it really necessary to add the [GENERAL] prefix?

The prefix is added by the mailing list software. It's there so that people subscribed to multiple pgsql-* lists can easily distinguish them. There's no need to include it in your messages.
