I reported the bug on 2000-11-06 to this list and added the -c option
briefly afterwards.  The bug caused initdb to fail on whatever FreeBSD
version postgresql.org was running at the time.

I agree that we could alter the "works on some platforms" to "might not
work on some platforms".
