    I'm using Conectiva Linux 6.0, Postgresql 7.0.2.

    In my scrypt, I start with default mode. But I think it is util
for you:

      daemon --check postmaster --user postgres "export
PGDATESTYLE='Postgres'; /usr/bin/postmaster -o -e -i -S -D/var/lib/pgsql"
