Hi,

in one of the latests updates of postgresql (I think 7.1 to 7.2)
there was a change concerning to the field's length behaviour.
Previously, if a string exceeded the maximum field length, the
string was truncated, but currently the application raises an error.
I wonder if it is possible to configure postgresql to truncate
the strings as it did in earlier versions.

  My sistem configuration is:
    Debian Woody
    Postgresql 7.2.1-2

Thanks in advance. Bye.
Juan
