I recently installed Postgres in a 21164A Alpha system, running RedHat 6.1
(the installation was off the RPMs included with RedHat). While Postgres
runs correctly, it does not run as fast as I would expect it to on this
machine. Besides, every time a query is made, I get on my
/var/log/messages a couple of lines similar to this one:
May 10 15:08:59 tlamantli kernel: postmaster(1446): unaligned trap at 000000012013f2a0: 000000011fff9e55 28 1
From what I have read, this is more a warning than an error, explaining
that the program tried to access memory not aligned to the 64-bit
boundaries needed by the Alpha architecture - and thus slowing down
execution.
Is there something I can do about this?
Thank you.
