And now for something completely different...

I'm the organizer for the Portland PostgreSQL Users Group. We started
at the urging of Josh Berkus just after OSCON 2006. You can find out
about our upcoming meetings at: http://pugs.postgresql.org/pdx/

Here's a summary of our most recent gathering:

Relational Algebra - 9/20/07 PDXPUG meeting
http://archives.postgresql.org/pdxpug/2007-09/msg00019.php

This was our first anniversary meeting and 21 people attended. It was
a terrific turnout for a great talk given by two PhD students, James
Terwilliger and Rafael J. Fernández-Moctezuma from Portland State
University. Portland has a very active database group at PSU - they
meet every Friday to discuss an academic paper, and the meetings are
open to the public.

PDXPUG has been going strong this past year, with 10-15 people
attending every meeting, and 54 people on our subscriber list. Randal
Schwartz, Jeff Davis, Gabrielle Roth and Mark Wong regularly attend
and contribute their knowledge. They, and many others, are
volunteering their time to help with the PostgreSQL Conference Fall
2007 here in Portland on October 20.

If you're in Portland, OR on the third Thursday of the month, please
get in touch! And hopefully I'll get to meet a few more of you at the
conference in October.
