Bug reference:      3905
Logged by:          David Wheeler
Email address:      david@kineticode.com
PostgreSQL version: 8.3RC2
Operating system: Mac OS X 10.5
Description: configure cannot find ossp UUID libs and/or includes
Details:

I've installed OSSP UUID 1.6.0 in /usr/local, but configure cannot seem to
find it when I use --with-ossp-uuid:

trigger# ./configure --with-libedit-preferred --with-bonjour --with-perl
PERL=$PERL --with-openssl --with-pam --with-krb5 --with-libxml --with-ldap
--with-ossp-uuid --with-libs=/usr/local/lib
--with-includes=/usr/local/include

Note that the libs and includes *are* there:

trigger# ll /usr/local/include | grep uuid
-rw-r--r--  1 root  wheel   4.3K Jan 15 15:29 uuid.h
trigger# ll /usr/local/lib | grep uuid
-rw-r--r--    1 root  wheel    45K Jan 15 15:29 libuuid.16.0.20.dylib
lrwxr-xr-x    1 root  wheel    21B Jan 15 15:29 libuuid.16.dylib@ ->

lrwxr-xr-x    1 root  wheel    21B Jan 15 15:29 libuuid.dylib@ ->
libuuid.16.0.20.dylib
-rw-r--r--    1 root  wheel   810B Jan 15 15:29 libuuid.la

But so is this system header file that's distributed with Mac OS X:

trigger# find /usr/include -name uuid.h
/usr/include/uuid/uuid.h

Could that file be confusing configure?

Thanks,

David
