DESCRIBE eqivalent - Mailing list pgsql-novice

I have been churning through the manual at
http://www.postgresql.org/idocs/index.php?sql-commands.html
but I see no equivalent to the MySQL DESCRIBE command to describe
a table.

What is the postgresql version of this?
