Gerfried Fuchs (the Debian packager for pgAdmin) also has the issue. I tried a few things, namely install gcc 4.6.2, but it still doesn't work without the patch. One interesting thing is that I can compile wxWidgets which has the same ATTRIBUTE_PRINTF_1 identifier. Maybe they do something smarter than us.
