"XPerts also ran the Transaction Processing Council's (TPC-C) test, which
simulates heavy online transactions, against Postgresql and the two leading
databases. Postgresql consistently performed on par with the proprietary
leaders. (Neither MySQL nor Interbase could be tested for TPC-C benchmarks
because MySQL is not adequately compliant with ANSI SQL standards and
Interbase 6.0 did not yet have a stable ODBC driver). The tests suggest
Postgreql can compete in the big league while other open source databases
perform well in less demanding environments."
