Hi all; The problem with trying to maintain an image of unity is that PostgreSQL is moving in a direction of being sort of like a kernel. In this sense, we already are unified. But regarding new types, client libs, etc. then unity is neither necessary nor desirable IMO. If that is something that some people see here as important, maybe they can start their own PostgreSQL "distributions."
