Postgres Professional Introduces Postgres Pro Enterprise Manager 2.10 with Healthcheck Advisor
Postgres Professional has announced the release of a new version of its database management and monitoring platform — Postgres Pro Enterprise Manager (PPEM) 2.10. The main innovation of the release is the Healthcheck Advisor workload analyzer, which detects deviations in DBMS behavior and generates recommendations to resolve them. The version also includes support for external storage for active session history, dashboard customization, and graphical display of cluster topology.
The key change to the platform is the introduction of the Healthcheck Advisor module. The tool helps administrators move from manual metric analysis to a proactive approach and focused incident investigation: the system automatically checks telemetry on a set schedule or on demand. The mechanism diagnoses a wide range of issues, including long-running transactions, deadlocks, replication delays, checksum failures, and degradation of autovacuum processes.
All detected events are linked to specific instances and metrics and are categorized by severity level: Critical, High, Medium, and Low. In a single view, the administrator can immediately see the nodes with the highest number of issues, and when drilling down into details, receives context: the metric value, detection rule, time of detection, and recommendations to resolve the failure. If necessary, the scope of checks and the list of analyzed parameters can be flexibly configured.
"The development of built-in intelligent mechanisms is a consistent step in the evolution of Postgres Pro products. The emergence of Healthcheck Advisor logically expands our line of tools that use AI, where an intelligent DBMS assistant Ask Postgres had already been introduced earlier. We are systematically strengthening the platform's analytical capabilities, helping administrators not just record anomalies in telemetry, but obtain ready-made contextual expertise for rapid decision-making," commented Boris Pishchik, product manager of Postgres Pro Enterprise Manager at Postgres Professional.
In terms of telemetry handling, PPEM 2.10 now supports external storage for Active Session History (ASH) data. Whereas previously session history was stored exclusively in the built-in repository database, it can now be moved to external dedicated database, reducing the load and disk space utilization of the management server. Users can register new storages directly from the web interface, assign a default target database, and centrally manage connection parameters.
The platform interface has received advanced personalization and visual monitoring tools. On the instance overview page, the dashboard can now be customized: widgets for tables, counters, and charts can be added, hidden, and rearranged while preserving a unified layout across sessions. In addition, the composition of high-availability clusters is now available as a clear topological diagram, which complements classic tables and simplifies visualization and navigation across cluster architectures.
The platform has also received a number of infrastructure and operational improvements:
- Repository maintenance schedules now include a maximum rule execution time limit ("Rule execution timeout, sec").
- When restoring a database from a backup, it is now possible to immediately specify configuration parameters, settings presets, and the systemd service name.
- Ready-made presets for WAL Usage and WAL Archiving charts have been included for in-depth control over write-ahead logs.
- Internal pipelines have been optimized for uninterrupted processing of large arrays of objects, and resource sizing standards have been updated.
- A pool of security vulnerabilities (CVEs) has been fixed, and the Go system stack has been updated to version 1.27.
The Postgres Pro Enterprise Manager 2.10 update is already available to users. Migration instructions and a detailed list of changes have been published in the product documentation.
