The key innovation of this release is the integration of the Ask Postgres AI assistant directly into the platform's interface. Moreover, unlike other graphical DBMS management platforms on the market, the AI assistant is also available in the trial version of PPEM 2.7. The new version also introduces a cluster change history log, a WAL archiving configuration wizard, and improvements to the active session history module.

«In PPEM 2.7, we have taken a step toward more intelligent DBMS administration. The Ask Postgres AI assistant helps administrators find answers to questions about diagnostics and optimization faster, while the new tools for change history, WAL archiving, and active session analysis make operating Postgres Pro Enterprise solutions more transparent and efficient.»

Ask Postgres AI assistant for DBAs

The main innovation of version 2.7 is integration with the Ask Postgres AI assistant. Administrators can now get expert answers to questions about administering, diagnosing, and optimizing PostgreSQL directly in the PPEM interface, without switching to the documentation.

A button to invoke the assistant has been added to the top-right corner of the control panel. Responses from the language model arrive in real time: the user can stop generation or continue the dialogue within a single session while preserving context.

Cluster change history log

PPEM 2.7 adds a dedicated log that tracks changes in a cluster. It records the discovery of a new cluster, the addition and removal of individual nodes, role changes, including promotion to primary or demotion to replica, as well as changes in node status and the overall health of the cluster.

Configuring continuous WAL archiving

The platform now features a wizard for configuring continuous WAL archiving based on Postgres Pro Backup Enterprise (pg_probackup), which simplifies preparing the DBMS for point-in-time recovery (PITR). The interface now lets you configure the number of threads, batch size, timeouts, compression algorithms, and levels. The status of WAL archiving configuration is displayed on the "Instance / Overview" page.

Development of ASE

The ASE (Active Session Engine) performance diagnostic tool, first introduced in an earlier version of the platform, has received a number of refinements aimed at improving stability and making it easier to analyze historical wait profiles. For example, users can now view the execution plan of a specific query directly from the ASE detail views.

Extended resource accounting

The "Resource Accounting" section has been extended with hourly breakdowns for each instance. By clicking the "Total CPU consumption" metric for the required instance, an administrator lands on a page with an hourly table.

Other improvements

PPEM 2.7 also adds the ability to replace a referee node in a BiHA cluster directly, without removing it first. This reduces the number of manual steps in the operational process. A number of platform-level improvements have also been made. The English translation of the interface is now complete.
