I've got this kind of error before using the psql command line and it was
related to the client program having a different version than the database
server. Perhaps pgadmin 3 would work? Or perhaps there is an upgrade for
the database driver. My goal would be to get as much of your setup to the
same versions as possible. For what it's worth,
