Sorry the statement
        OdbcCommandBuilder cbDB = new OdbcCommandBuilder(adDB);
seems to be needed.
I can add a row by adding the statement
    adDB.Update(dsDB);
after the statement
    dsDB.Tables[0].Rows.Add(rwDB);
