Hi,
I'm trying to use your PostgreSQL v7.3.1 in a PowerPC system but the message
I get is:
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/initdb -D /usr/local/pgsql/data
The program
'/usr/local/pgsql/bin/postgres'
needed by initdb does not belong to PostgreSQL version 7.3.1, or
there may be a configuration problem.
This was the error message issued by that program:
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/postgres: error in loading shared libraries:
libz.so.1: No such file or directory can not open shared object file
so the next thing to do is to put the libraries libz, libreadline and
libhistory (we get the same message for these last 2 libraries) in the
correct directory and try to do the same operation, but then we get
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/initdb -D /usr/local/pgsql/data
Segmentation fault
Segmentation fault
Segmentation fault
The program
'/usr/local/pgsql/bin/postgres'
needed by initdb does not belong to PostgreSQL version 7.3.1, or
there may be a configuration problem.
Do you think is the libraries that have a problem?
The message we get for the postgreSQL 7.3 is exactly the same.
I compiled the postgres for ppc with this options
./configure CFLAGS='-02 -pipe' --host=powerpc-linux
--with-libraries=/usr/local/powerpc-linux-ptin/lib
Do you know what is the problem?
do you have these libraries compiled for ppc?
Thanks in advance
Catarina
