RDBMS Kernel Architect;

Fulltime regular employee needed, 75-100% on-site in Santa Clara, California.

Job Summary;

We are looking for several RDBMS kernel architects (PostgreSQL preferred, other RDBMS is acceptable, we are using PostgreSQL), to work on the RDBMS kernel architecture design of a massive parallel transaction processing system.

The project is a massive scale parallel database for a large service environment, with data partitioning and distributed processing.

The ideal candidates must enjoy tackling technical challenges by creating innovative solutions.

The ideal candidates would have significant knowledge in database internal structure, query processing engine, distributed transaction processing, or database storage subsystem. Other important attributes are versatility and a passion for building extremely high-quality, enterprise-class software systems.

Primary Duties and responsibilities;

-Responsible for the research and design for an MPP OLTP database

-Responsible for key architecture decisions

-Work with a team of architects and engineers to develop proof-of-concept components

-Write and maintain architecture and detailed design specifications

-Manage a team of senior engineers to implement the key components of the product according to specifications

-Perform design and code review

-Work with product manager to ensure the architecture design meets the product requirements

-Work with QA manager to develop test specifications

Minimum Requirements;

At least 10 years of experience in implementing some part of a RDBMS kernel

-Excellent documentation, organization and communication skills

-Extensive experience with the design and development of a database storage subsystem, query processing, query optimization, or transaction processing

-Experience in in-memory database a plus

-Experience with Postgresql is a plus

-Experience in SQLStream a plus

-Ability to perform code review

-Must be a team player and capable of conducting independent research

-Self-motivated & detail oriented

-Proficient in C and C++

-Minimum of BSCS or equivalent with at least 15 years of relevant experience
