Most of you know me. I’ve been the “Postgres Guy” for nearly 30 years.
I am looking for a PostgreSQL-focused team lead, technical lead, or management role.
My background is in PostgreSQL architecture, high availability, replication, performance tuning, migrations, and production operations. I have worked across PostgreSQL HA stacks including Patroni, etcd, HAProxy, pgBouncer, physical and logical replication, backup and recovery, monitoring, incident response, and Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migrations.
I am strongest in roles where I can combine deep PostgreSQL technical judgment with team leadership: mentoring engineers, improving operational practices, reviewing architecture, leading migrations, coordinating production work, and helping teams make better long-term database decisions.
Relevant background includes:
- PostgreSQL SME / architect-level experience
- Linux and production operations background
- Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration experience
- High availability, replication, PITR, backup/restore, and performance tuning
- Experience creating internal standards, documentation, training, and operational runbooks
- Former North American Training Director at 2ndQuadrant
- Author of PostgreSQL 17 High Performance
I am particularly interested in remote roles, but I am open to discussing hybrid arrangements in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Contract, contract-to-hire, and full-time opportunities are all worth discussing.
