There are seven versions of "postgresql 9", and multiple patch releases of each. Please specify which version you're running.

Sandip - Few questions not sure how your scripts are setup. To speed up things faster , are you
providing work_mem and maintenance_work_mem parameters while creating the indexes. ? ( If Not I would highly recommend to set maintenance_work_mem to 8 -10 GB if your cluster has enough memory)
