Hmm, I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing now, yes I don't have to click that but I mean for me there's just no way to look pass that. The clickable box with the minus sign together with the downstretching line that appears in the left gutter after typing in a pair of parentheses is just too  unproportionally big (I'm under Ubuntu) to be ignored. Having an option can't really hurt here I think.

Why is this needed? If you don't want code folding, you can just not
use it surely?
