still confusing,, prebuilt binaries of postgresql? or cygwin?.
could you clue me which version of cygwin,postgresql,postgis would be
compatible to make work out on win2000 pro?. and for this is there any
necesity to download and install gCC externally?.

Given the above, why not just use the pre-built version that is part of
the standard Cygwin distribution?
